LAMBERHURST PANTOMIME SOCIETY – SUPPORTING LOCAL CHARITIES
Of the community, with the community, for the community.
Lamberhurst Pantomime Society is delighted to be able to announce that despite the challenges presented by Covid and Government restrictions we have donated £2,000 to local charities this year.
£1400 was raised from donations made by people who watched A Lad in Lockdown, our innovative pantomime on Zoom. This has been donated to Mental Health Resource, a charity based in Tunbridge Wells who provide safe spaces and person-centred mental health support to help people improve their wellbeing. Mental Health Resource has adapted its services to provide ongoing support through lockdown but will see a 50% reduction in community fundraised income this year. Lamberhurst Pantomime Society is delighted to be able to support this local organisation in providing critical support.
A Lad in Lockdown is still available on YouTube (search Lamberhurst Pantomime Society) and we invite anyone who watches and enjoys it in future also to donate to Mental Health Resource.
In addition, society members have raised £600 directly through ticket sales for a members’ event that had to be cancelled. All the members involved agreed that their money could be donated to charity rather than being refunded to them. These funds have been donated to two charities who we support each year:
£300 to Kent Air Ambulance
£300 to Hospice in the Weald
At a time when all charities are struggling with reduced income the Society is happy to maintain our record of support for services for local people.
The Lamberhurst Pantomime is an annual community event bringing music, laughter and a whole heap of fun to the local community – both as performers and audience. Over its 40 years history, hundreds of people of all ages – 8 to 80 and beyond – have taken part in our pantomimes. Like all performances these are team efforts, where we learn the benefits of mutual support and of team work – a community of performers and back stage crew sharing our enjoyment with others.
Over those years as well support from our audiences has enabled us to continue to donate funds to the Kent Air Ambulance and Hospice in the Weald – vital services for our community and the wider area.
We expect to perform live again in January 2022 – watch our FaceBook page and website for details.

A Lad in Lockdown is now available!
Our 2021 production has indeed be very different to previous years due to Covid-19, it unfortunately meant that we were unable to put on a production in the hall but never fear! We are back with a virtual performance of A Lad In Lockdown, written by our own Adrian Smith, so you can still have a giggle and join in with the fun.
You can watch the performance on this youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtI_vLJ9ZTk
Have you ever fancied yourself as a handsome prince or maybe a wicked witch or even a chorus urchin, well now is your chance to shine and get involved in our lively Panto society, whether it be on stage or behind the scenes.
We are a friendly Society and welcome new performers, directors and backstage help. We are also free to join and only ask that you give you time, energy, good humour, acting skills (at whatever level) and if you have one, a singing voice! We try, where possible, to have a different Director and set designer for each performance, which gives each Pantomime a fresh approach every year.
As well as performing one Panto a year in January, we also try to put on other events such as Murder Mysteries, concerts and dramatic plays to support other Lamberhurst fundraising events.
